What E19 Means
A read line failure - the control unable to read the keyboard's signal lines at all, rather than reading one key wrongly. Wolf's Induction Cooktop Technical & Service Manual says the control enters lock mode and displays the error, and lists keyboard failure, a failing J4 connection and a communication board failure as the causes.
Common Causes of E19
- A failing J4 connection between the keyboard and the control electronics
- A keyboard problem affecting the signal lines rather than one key
- A communication board failure, which the manual says to replace
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Isolate the cooktop at the breaker for a minute before switching it back on. A read line problem caused by a connector that has crept under thermal cycling sometimes clears on a full power-down, and whether it does is worth knowing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The connector and the boards sit beneath the glass, and lifting a built-in induction cooktop out of a stone counter is a two-person job with real breakage risk.
- The same sign covers a connector, a keyboard and a board, which is three very different repair costs.
- A cooktop locked out by its own control cannot be worked around from the surface, so there is nothing useful to attempt beyond the power cycle.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
