What E11 Means
A/D stands for analog to digital - the conversion an induction generator uses to turn a measured value into a number it can act on. Wolf's Induction Cooktop Technical & Service Manual defines E11 as an A/D failure: when the converted value goes past the error limit, the affected burner shuts down. The manual attributes it to an induction generator failure.
Common Causes of E11
- A failure in the induction generator board's measurement conversion
- A part on the generator board drifting out of tolerance with age
- Electrical noise affecting the conversion, which a technician can rule in or out from the logged errors
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note which zone shut down and whether it did so immediately on switching on or only after running at power for a while. The timing separates a board that fails cold from one that fails as it heats.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Induction generators sit under the glass and switch high currents, which puts them well outside sensible home repair.
- The cooktop has to come out of the counter to reach them, and glass cooktops are easy to chip or crack in the process.
- The manual names the generator board as the repair, and that is a part worth being certain about before it is ordered.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
