What E13 Means
A shorted key - one of the touch controls reading as permanently pressed. Wolf's Induction Cooktop Technical & Service Manual says the affected burner becomes unavailable until it is corrected and the control enters lock mode, with the keyboard, the J4 connection and the glass assembly as the causes in that order.
Common Causes of E13
- Something resting on or spilled over a touch key
- A key in the touch layer that has failed short
- A J4 connector that is no longer making reliable contact on every keyboard line
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look for what is sitting on the control area: a pan handle resting across it, a damp cloth, a spill that dried. Then clean the surface with the cooktop off at the breaker and let it dry completely before restoring power.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Cleaning happens with the power off: a key already reading as pressed is exactly the one you do not want responding while you wipe it.
- The touch layer is bonded to the glass on this design, so a genuinely failed key means the glass assembly rather than a part swap.
- The cooktop has to come out of the counter to reach the connector, which is where glass tops get chipped if it is rushed.
