What F1 Means
F1 means the door latch failed to engage or release as expected — most commonly seen during or right after a self-clean cycle, when the door is supposed to lock automatically.
Common Causes of F1
- Failed door latch motor or solenoid
- Misaligned or damaged door switch
- Control board failing to send or receive the latch signal

Do not force the door. If this occurred during or after self-clean, let the oven cool completely first — many lockouts release once internal temperature drops to a safe range.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A self-clean cycle can leave the oven cavity well above 800°F — forcing a locked door open at that temperature risks a serious burn.
- The latch solenoid is wired into the same high-voltage circuit as the heating elements; testing it live is a real shock risk.
- Forcing a jammed latch mechanism can bend the strike plate, making the door harder to lock or unlock correctly afterward.
- A latch reassembled slightly misaligned can fail to release even after the fault is "fixed," leaving you locked out again.
- Latch mechanism access typically requires removing the inner door panel, a common way this warranty gets voided.
