What 3721 Means
The door lock reports its position through a pair of switches, and only certain combinations make physical sense. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual logs 3721 on the upper cavity and 3722 on the lower when the pair returns a combination that cannot be true - both made at once, for example.
Common Causes of 3721
- A lock switch that has failed in the made position
- A harness problem shorting two lock inputs together
- A latch genuinely stopped between positions so both switches read ambiguously
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the oven cold, note where the latch has stopped and whether the door opens normally. An impossible switch reading with a perfectly normal-looking latch is a strong hint that the problem is electrical rather than mechanical.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Let the cavity cool before examining the latch - lock problems and self-clean go together on this platform.
- Two switches shorted together by a chafed harness look exactly like two switches both operated, and telling them apart means measurement.
- The lock circuit runs back to the relay board in a line-voltage housing, so it is not a harness to be tugging on while the oven is live.
