On the DF486C, the 48-inch top carries six open burners alongside an infrared charbroiler and runs on gas, while the oven underneath is electric and convection-assisted. That split means a no-heat complaint has two completely separate diagnostic paths depending on which half of the range it came from.
Because the DF486C carries a gas manifold and a high-voltage oven circuit in one chassis, we shut the gas supply off at the appliance valve before any work near the burners or the manifold, and isolate the range at the breaker before opening the oven’s electrical side. The infrared charbroiler is its own heating assembly with its own burner and igniter, so a charbroiler that will not light says nothing about the open burners beside it.
Taken apart, DF486C reads as DF for Dual Fuel, 48 for the cabinet width in inches, 6 for the six open burners and C for the infrared charbroiler.

- Sealed surface burners with spark ignition, each valve switched independently
- Pre-Wi-Fi electronic oven control that reports faults as short numeric codes
- Separate charbroiler assembly with its own burner and control
Most Common Issues on This Model
