What 5121 Means
The same overshoot protection applied to ordinary cooking, where the ceiling is much lower than during a clean cycle. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual gives 5121 for the upper cavity and 5122 for the lower at priority 2. The oven reached a temperature it should never see while baking or broiling.
Common Causes of 5121
- A cavity sensor reading lower than the real temperature, so heat keeps being added
- A heating relay stuck closed on one of the element circuits
- A control problem leaving an element energised past the point the cycle called for
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Cut power at the breaker and let it cool. Before you forget the detail, write down what was cooking and on what function - overshoot during broil and overshoot during a long bake point in different directions.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Power off at the breaker is the first step, not an afterthought: the cavity is hotter than anything you would normally open an oven onto.
- An element that cannot be commanded off is one of the genuine reasons not to keep using an appliance while waiting for a visit.
- Resetting and cooking again to test it risks a repeat overshoot with food, and possibly the cabinetry, in the way.
