What 3311 Means
TCO is the thermal cut-out - a protective device in series with the heating circuit that opens if things get hotter than they ever should. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual lists 3311 for the upper cavity and 3312 for the lower, both at priority 1, the most serious band this platform uses. The protection has operated, or has failed in a way that looks the same.
Common Causes of 3311
- A genuine overheat that tripped the cut-out as designed
- A cooling fan that stopped, letting heat build where the cut-out is mounted
- A failed cut-out or a broken connection reading as open without any overheat having happened
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the oven off at the breaker before anything else and leave it off. A cut-out that has opened did so for a reason, and the useful question is what overheated rather than how to get it running again.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Power off at the breaker first - this code frequently sits alongside a real overheat, so the parts involved are both hot and live.
- A thermal cut-out is a safety device, and replacing one without finding what opened it removes the warning while leaving the hazard.
- Priority 1 is the top of Wolf's own scale, which is about as clear a signal as a manufacturer gives that this is not one to work around.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
