What 1421 Means
Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual records 1421 when the upper cavity's left convection element relay reads open while the control has it commanded closed, and 1422 for the lower cavity. The left-hand convection ring is not receiving power, so that side of the cavity contributes nothing to a convection cycle.
Common Causes of 1421
- A left convection relay that no longer closes on command
- An open left convection element reading back as an open circuit
- A failed terminal connection on the left convection element behind the rear baffle
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Bake a tray of something that browns evenly - plain scones or bread rolls work - and look at which side comes out pale. Lopsided results are the clearest customer-side evidence for a one-sided convection problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The element sits behind the rear baffle, so the cavity has to be cold and the oven isolated before the baffle comes off.
- The left and right convection channels report separately but look identical, and working on the wrong side is an easy mistake without the problem log.
- Whether it is the relay or the element cannot be told apart from the front panel, and buying both is an expensive way to find out.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
