What PF Means
PF on many electronic ranges and ovens simply means Power Failure — the unit lost power mid-cycle and is letting you know a cook or bake cycle may not have finished as expected. It's typically informational rather than a sign the range itself is faulted.
Common Causes of PF
- A home power outage or breaker trip
- The range being unplugged or the breaker switched during cleaning or a move
- A momentary utility power blip
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check whatever was cooking for doneness and simply restart or clear the code — press Cancel or the relevant clear button depending on your model.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This code is informational, not an error — there's no repair to attempt, but a PF that keeps recurring with no obvious power event is worth mentioning to an electrician, not the range.
- Assuming food finished cooking safely without checking it can be a food-safety issue in its own right.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
