What 20 Means
This is a numeric error code on Wolf's legacy IR-Series induction range platform, an older control system than the current induction range lineup. We're not assigning it a specific cause without the legacy platform's service documentation.
Common Causes of 20
- A control board problem on the legacy IR-Series platform
- A part reaching end-of-life on an older control system
- A sensor or wiring problem specific to one zone
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power-cycle at the breaker and note which zone or function was active. On an older, legacy platform, also check whether a service bulletin or update ever applied to your specific model, if you have any records from a prior service visit.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Legacy platform parts can be harder to source, making a confirmed diagnosis more important before ordering anything.
- Induction electronics involve higher currents than a standard cooktop, raising the stakes of an incorrect DIY repair.
- A guessed repair on an older, legacy platform is more likely to need redoing if the wrong part is chosen.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
