Wolf ovens lock the door during and immediately after a self-clean cycle because the cavity reaches temperatures well above normal cooking range, and the lock mechanism is tied to a temperature sensor rather than a simple timer. Most of the time the latch steps back on its own once cavity temperature has dropped far enough, and after a full-length clean cycle that can take a couple of hours — longer than most people expect.
Don’t force the door open. A door still latched long after the oven is cool to the touch, or a latch that keeps cycling between locked and unlocked, is pointing at the temperature sensor or the control board reading it rather than at leftover heat, and at that stage a diagnostic visit is faster than repeated attempts to pry it open.
