If you open your dishwasher at the end of a cycle and find water sitting at the bottom, you’re dealing with a drainage fault — one of the most common service calls we get, and usually traceable to a specific cause.
Start With the Filter
The lower filter assembly is the single most common cause of drainage complaints. Remove it, rinse it thoroughly, and run a short cycle to test.
Check the Pump Cover
A drain pump cover that’s come loose can also restrict drainage — a meaningful share of drainage faults trace back to the pump itself.
When It Escalates
Unresolved drainage can eventually pool into the base pan and trigger a more serious leak-protection fault, which is why we recommend resolving drainage issues within a day or two rather than letting them sit.
