What RM EE checksum error Means

RM is the relay module and EE is its stored memory. At start-up the module adds up what is in that memory and compares the result with a stored figure; when the two disagree it logs this checksum error. Wolf's E Series Technical & Service Manual rates it priority 3 and says to check connections before replacing the relay module.

Common Causes of RM EE checksum error

  • Stored data corrupted by a surge or a brownout during a write
  • A memory device on the relay module reaching the end of its life
  • A poor connection disturbing the module's supply at power-up

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Take the oven off at the breaker for a minute and bring it back up. A checksum that was corrupted by a single bad power event will often not come back; one that reappears every time you power up is a different story.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The named repair is the relay module - the board that switches every heating circuit in the oven - so it is not something to reach into while the unit is energised.
  • Relay modules are supplied per model and revision, and a near-match will fit the bracket and misbehave in the cavity.
  • An oven working from memory it cannot verify may hold the wrong calibration silently, which is worth resolving rather than tolerating.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

RM EE checksum error FAQ

Possibly, if a supply event caused it. Note the date anyway - a checksum error that turns up two or three times is the module telling you something.

No. The E Series logs them separately because they are different boards, so it matters which phrase the display showed.
