What Overtemp error - door locked Means
An over-temperature detected while the door was locked, which on this platform means during or around a self-clean cycle. Wolf's E Series Technical & Service Manual gives it priority 2 and points at airflow and the cooling fan before the relay module - the locked-door limit is already high, so exceeding it usually means heat is not being carried away as designed.
Common Causes of Overtemp error - door locked
- A cooling fan that is not running or not moving enough air during the clean cycle
- Blocked or restricted venting around the installation
- A heating relay holding on longer than commanded, or a sensor reading low so the control keeps adding heat
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker and leave the door closed until everything is cold. Then check that the oven's vents are clear and that nothing has been stored tight against the appliance or its surround.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Breaker off first: after a clean cycle overshoot the cavity and its surround stay hot well beyond the point where the display looks calm.
- If a relay is stuck closed, the front panel showing the oven off proves nothing about whether an element is still live.
- Restarting a clean cycle to see whether it repeats puts the same excess heat back into the cabinetry and the electronics.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
