What CONTROL COM Means
Communication lost with the oven controller. Wolf's Wall Ovens Technical & Service Manual lists CONTROL COM alongside the other link problems and gives the same order of attack: check the flex cable, then the oven controller. Where KEY COMM is the panel losing the controller, this is the loss reported from the other direction.
Common Causes of CONTROL COM
- A flex cable connection that has lost contact between the control housing and the oven controller
- An oven controller that has stopped responding on its communication line
- A supply disturbance that left one board running and the other reset
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Isolate the oven at the breaker for a full minute rather than tapping the panel off, then note how far it gets on the way back up - whether the display lights at all, and whether it reaches a normal idle screen.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The flex cable and the controller share a housing with line-voltage connections, so this is a breaker-off job before anything is touched.
- Two boards can each look fine in isolation while the link between them is the problem, which is exactly what a technician's test equipment is for.
- Ordering a controller on the strength of the code alone is how people end up paying for a board and still having the problem.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
