What 1A31 Means
Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual lists 1A31 as the upper cavity's left convection fan triac reading open and 1A32 as the lower. The solid-state switch driving that fan is not conducting when the control asks it to, so the left convection fan does not turn - the heat is there but nothing is moving it.
Common Causes of 1A31
- A triac that has failed open on the left fan channel
- A convection fan motor that has gone open circuit, which reads the same way
- A wiring break between the relay board and that fan motor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the oven cold and the door open, look at the rear baffle and note whether you can hear or feel air movement when a convection function starts. A silent fan on one side is the observation to report.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The convection fan is behind the rear baffle inside the cavity, so it is a cold-oven, power-off job to get anywhere near it.
- A stationary fan can be a failed motor or a failed switch, and the two are different parts at different prices.
- Running convection with one fan stopped concentrates heat around a live element, which is not a helpful way to keep cooking.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
