What 0A31 Means

A triac is the solid-state switch the M Series relay board uses to drive the convection fans. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual defines 0A31 as the left convection fan triac reading shorted in the upper cavity and 0A32 as the same problem in the lower cavity, both at priority 3. Shorted means the switch is conducting when the control wants it off, so the left-hand convection fan keeps turning after everything else has stopped.

Common Causes of 0A31

  • A left convection fan triac that has failed in the conducting state
  • A convection fan motor drawing abnormally and stressing the triac that drives it
  • A relay board problem on the left convection fan channel

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Listen for a fan inside the cavity that runs on indefinitely rather than stopping with the oven. Be careful to distinguish it from the cooling fan, which is meant to run on for a while after a cycle - note which one you are hearing, and for how long.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The convection fan sits behind the rear baffle inside the cavity, which is not somewhere to reach with the oven energised or still hot.
  • Replacing the fan motor achieves nothing when the switch feeding it has failed closed - the new motor will run just as continuously.
  • The left and right fan channels are identical on the board, and picking the wrong one without the problem log is guesswork.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

0A31 FAQ

It matches. A triac stuck conducting keeps feeding the fan regardless of what the control asks for, which is exactly what a fan that will not switch off looks like.

It does not exist in Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual. The genuine pair is 0A31 for the upper cavity and 0A32 for the lower, and this page has been corrected to say so.
