What 0421 Means
The mirror of 0121 on the other side of the cavity. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual lists 0421 as the left convection element relay shorted in the upper oven and 0422 in the lower. M Series ovens with twin convection fans have an element and a relay for each side, and this is the left one failing to release.
Common Causes of 0421
- Left convection relay contacts welded after long service
- A relay board feedback problem on that specific channel
- A wiring short in the left convection element circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power the oven down at the breaker. If you have noticed food browning harder on one side of the cavity than the other, write that down - side-specific signs line up neatly with side-specific relays.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A convection element that cannot be switched off keeps adding heat behind the rear baffle, so the breaker is the meaningful off switch until it is repaired.
- The left and right convection channels look identical on the board, and working on the wrong one is easy without the service documentation.
- An element replaced because one side cooks hotter leaves the stuck relay in place and the sign unchanged.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
