What 0321 Means
Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual gives 0321 as the upper broil element relay shorted and 0322 as the lower. The broil element runs across the roof of the cavity and draws hard; a relay reporting as closed when the control asked for open means the oven cannot prove it has turned the broiler off.
Common Causes of 0321
- Broil relay contacts welded closed, which the element's inrush current encourages over years of use
- A feedback line on the relay board misreading the contact position
- A short in the broil wiring that keeps the sense circuit made
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker. A broil element that stays energised will make itself known quickly, and the panel is not a reliable way to stop it when the relay is the problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The broil element is directly overhead in the cavity and retains heat, so cutting power at the breaker and letting it cool comes before anything else.
- Broil circuits run at full heating voltage and current, which puts any live testing outside sensible home territory.
- Replacing the broil element on the assumption it is misbehaving does nothing about the relay that will not let go of it.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
