What 7121 Means
The companion to 7021, covering the knob that sets temperature rather than mode. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual logs 7121 for the upper cavity and 7122 for the lower at priority 2. The control cannot read a valid position from the temperature encoder.
Common Causes of 7121
- A temperature encoder worn from years of daily use
- Contamination around the encoder shaft from cleaning or cooking
- An input circuit problem on the interface module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Set a temperature slowly and watch the digits: if they jump in large steps, run away on their own, or stick, write down which. Also note whether the oven then actually cooks at the temperature it finally displays.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Reaching the encoder means the control housing, which shares space with the oven's line-voltage connections.
- An oven that misreads a temperature selection can be set to one figure and run at another, which is a food-safety issue as much as a convenience one.
- Knob assemblies and encoders are supplied per model, so ordering ahead of a confirmed diagnosis is a gamble.
