What 3621 Means

The reverse problem: the oven is reading its door as locked when no clean cycle is running. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual lists 3621 for the upper cavity and 3622 for the lower, both priority 2. Either the latch genuinely has not released, or the switches are saying it has not.

Common Causes of 3621

  • A latch that has not returned to its unlocked position after a clean cycle
  • A lock switch stuck in the locked state and reporting a position the latch is not in
  • A lock motor or drive problem leaving the mechanism part-way home

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Let the cavity cool right down before trying the door - many lock releases simply wait for temperature to fall. Then try the door gently once, and if it does not open, leave it alone.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Always let the oven cool first: forcing a door that the control still considers locked is how strikes get bent and doors get sprung.
  • The lock switches sit in the same harness as the oven's heating interlocks, so live probing is a shock risk rather than a diagnostic step.
  • Repeatedly cycling power to try to shake the latch loose wears the motor without addressing whatever is holding it.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

3621 FAQ

Switch it off at the breaker and book a visit. Once the cavity is cold and the latch still will not release, waiting longer will not help and pulling will only do damage.

Quite possibly - a switch reporting locked when the latch is actually home produces the same code. A technician can tell the two apart in minutes.
