What 3521 Means
During a self-clean cycle the M Series control keeps checking that the door is both shut and locked. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual logs 3521 for the upper cavity and 3522 for the lower when that check fails mid-cycle - the oven believes the door came open or the latch released while the cavity was at clean temperature.
Common Causes of 3521
- A door or lock switch dropping out intermittently under heat expansion
- A latch that is not engaging deeply enough into a worn strike
- A harness problem in the door circuit that opens as the control area heats up
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Stop using the clean cycle and switch the oven off at the breaker until it has been checked. Then, once cold, look at whether the door closes flush all the way round and whether the latch engages fully by eye.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Power off at the breaker first: this code describes the interlock failing at the one temperature where it matters most, so the cavity is the last place to be reaching.
- Running another clean cycle to see whether it repeats puts you back in exactly the condition the interlock exists to prevent.
- Adjusting a strike plate to force a better latch reading changes how the door seals and usually creates a new problem.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
