What 1231 Means
The double line break relay on the bake circuit reading open when it should have closed. Wolf's M Series Troubleshooting Manual gives 1231 for the upper cavity and 1232 for the lower. Because the DLB is wired in series with the bake relay, an open DLB means no bake heat at all even though the main bake relay may be working perfectly.
Common Causes of 1231
- A DLB relay whose contacts no longer close
- A driver problem on the relay board leaving the DLB uncommanded
- A connection problem in the DLB circuit on the bake bank
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note whether bake fails while broil still works. The DLB banks are arranged by circuit, so a problem that takes out one function and leaves the other is genuinely informative.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The DLB is part of the oven's disconnect arrangement on line voltage, so it is not a part to test with the unit energised.
- An oven that will not bake has several possible causes on this platform, and the problem log is what separates a DLB from an element or a main relay.
- Ordering a relay board before the log has been read is how a no-bake problem ends up costing more than the visit.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
