How to Tell If Your Wolf Drawer Microwave’s Sensor Has Failed

A drawer microwave adds a mechanical open/close system a standard swing-door unit doesn't have — and a new set of failure points along with it.

Wolf’s drawer-style microwaves use a motorized mechanism to open and close, along with position sensors that confirm the drawer is fully closed before the unit will run a cycle. When that sensor is failing, you’ll typically see the drawer refuse to start a cycle even when it looks closed, or a cycle that starts but then stops partway with the display indicating a door or drawer issue.

This is different from a swing-door microwave’s simple latch switch — the drawer mechanism has more moving parts, so it’s worth mentioning that you have a drawer-style model when booking, since it changes what a technician checks first.
